A visit to Wisley Gardens

A grand day out was had at Wisley, it's a place I've driven past on hundreds of occassions, but never quite found the time to go there... until today.

I wasn't aware of the sheer scale of the 170+ acres of grounds, nor the diversity of it's planting.

The rain kept me in the amazing glasshouse for a while longer than I would normally have devoted to it, but an interesting place it was to wait for the rain to stop.

Lot's & lot's of fruit tree's bearing wonderful coloured apples, pears, quince as well as a wide variety of berries.

I shall go back in a different season.

Autumn is here.....

I noticed this view when out driving today. A carpet of leaves, undisturbed on a footpath close to my house.

Autumnal walk by the river

A beautiful sunny Sunday was enhanced by a walk by the river in Longparish today, the light on the clouds was amazing.

The first frost of the year made for lots of activity in the garden, getting everything in shape for the winter shut down. All the hanging baskets are down & the last remnants of veg from the garden are cleared away. The grass has slowed down, so the last few cuts with the mower are in sight.

Roast rack of lamb tonight will be a just reward!
